Lepton Surgery
Between the hours of 08.00am-08.30am & 6.00pm-6.30pm, this practice is covered by Local Care Direct which is staffed by local GPs and nurses. They can provide urgent medical care or advice when the practice is closed. Patients can access this service by calling the usual surgery number and following the instructions on the recorded message.
Surgery doors open 8.00am – 6.30pm Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays & Wednesdays when the surgery closes at 1pm)
Appointments can only be booked from 8.30am onwards by telephone.
Please note that patients can access care at either of our surgeries and when one surgery is closed, your call will be redirected to the alternate site. Our clinicians work across both surgeries, therefore you may also be asked to attend either practice for an appointment dependent on the location of the particular clinic.
Kirkheaton Surgery

Lepton surgery is closed on Wednesdays from 1pm, patients who require assistance between the hours 1.00pm – 6.00pm will be diverted to the Kirkheaton Surgery.
Kirkheaton surgery is closed on Thursdays from 1pm, patients who require assistance between the hours 13.00 – 18.00 will be diverted to the Lepton Surgery.
NHS 111
At night or on a weekend please call the NHS 111 Service, 111 is the NHS non-emergency number, it’s fast, easy and free.
Call 111 and speak to a highly trained adviser, supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and direct you to the best medical care for you, which may include booking you an appointment or arranging a visit from a GP outside our opening hours, although this will not be your usual GP.
In a genuine emergency (threat to life) you should call 999.
Kirklees Walk-in Centre
You can also visit the Walk-in Centre at Dewsbury & District Hospital opposite the main entrance for fast and convenient NHS treatment. Here you can see an experienced nurse for advice, assessment and treatment for minor ailments and injuries such as cuts, bruises, minor infections, strains, sprains and skin complaints. It is open Monday – Friday 9 am – 10 pm.
